"What is that?", Where is it from?", "It's so cute!", "Is it hard to drive?" , and "I want one."
Questions a lady in a Smart car asked while we were driving H-1 West. It wasn't afternoon rush hour traffic, thank God, but it is one of those things that happens to us all the time since we got a kei car.
Before you gripe and moan about the lack of tech, the low horsepower, and make fun of its awkward looks, yadda yadda yadda, I have to say those are the very things that makes driving "The Move" so refreshing and a fun adventure.
It has everything you need, all in a teeny packge. It has AC, power windows, power steering, stereo with Apple Play, a rear spoiler (more downforce), and retro "chrome" wheels. It fits four average sized adults, and best of all $20 to fill up too...Winning! I managed to haul 30 boxes of luxury vinyl, not all at once, from the store to home, even the workers got a kick out of seeing me loading it.
It's not car for everyone which is perfect because who really wants to be like everyone else. I feel that newer cars are looking too homogenous, seriously, no dig on Toyota love their cars, but just look at all the Tacomas on the road.
It can literally fit in the bed on this guys' truck. The size difference between the kei car and normal vehicles always cracks me up. Small is the new big.
